Two young girls, 17 & 13 boarded a Trailways bus in Burlington, IA for Jacksonville, FL.. The long ride was an adventure in itself, but the fun & excitement that lay ahead would be one of our most memorable. Trudy & I were going to visit our Uncle Larry, Aunt Martha and little cousins Bradley & Michelle. Our days were packed with things to do & places to go. A couple of days at Aunt Gladys & Uncle Charlies beach cabin where we first saw the ocean, beach, a jellyfish, & experienced a very painfull sunburn. Picking oranges at an orchard, learning why they didn't look like those in the store. A picnic where Trudys grape soda sprayed all over Uncle Charlie, everyone laughed, even Charlie Having grits for the first time, little lizards running around, playing games, helping in the garden & kitchen. A day trip to historical St. Augustine, a night spent at Marthas' dads home swimming in the pool & then there was the water bed! Funny story, Aunt Martha did this pro wrestling jump onto the bed, rolling Uncle Larry off to the floor! Then, the grand finale, Disney!! It was 1974 so this magical place hadn't been open long. The Disney characters, rides, loved the parade & the ride, It's a small, small world. Our visit was filled with love and laughter. This is a memory I'll always hold close. It's with heavy heart that we must say good-bye to Aunt Martha, her life here on Earth, but I know she is rejoicing with our Lord today, laughing her infectious laugh, bringing smiles to all. Although I'm unable to be there, my thoughts & prayers of comfort are with Uncle Larry, Bradley & Michelle. With my love & hugs, Glenda
