My Aunt Leila

When I was a little girl and Aunt Leila moved to Panama, I would write her letters, very boring ones in retrospect, but, my life at the age of nine....going to school, doing my homework, and being babysat by my grandmother, Mita, her mother. She would write back to me and make me so happy. Wow, at the age of 9, I was getting my own letters!

Leila, was beautiful, funny and fun to be around. I remember our family gatherings and hearing my mother and dad and everyone present joking and laughing. She was a natural.

I remember when Leila and David decided that they would be relocating from Staten Island. They came to visit me and my family in Pennsylvania. We had such a good time. Of course, they did not end up there, but, it was so nice having them visit.

Aunt Leila will be missed. She brought joy to us all. What a beautiful legacy...to make others feel better and happier with your presence. Love you, Aunt Leila. I can see you now joining my mother, my brother, and all of our other family members who have left us. Do what you do best...bring them joy!!
