Obituary for Dr. Charles William Bauknight Sr.

Dr. Charles William Bauknight, Sr., of 103 Victoria Circle, Anderson, (and Highlands, NC) born December 25, 1934 to John Edward and Theodosia Brock Bauknight, was raised in Walhalla, S.C. He attended prep school at the McCallie School in Chattanooga and graduated from Emory University and Emory Medical School. He trained at Johns Hopkins and Grady Memorial in Atlanta. He served in the Air Force in Columbus, Mississippi before practicing obstetrics and gynecology for 30 years in Anderson, S.C.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Johannah Armbrecht Bauknight, his son Charles William Bauknight, Jr. and daughter Johannah Bauknight Plyler (David), his grandson Charles Conrad Plyler and his brothers Clarence Brock (Harriet) and John Edward III (Susan).
He was a basketball player, a runner, a tennis player, a golfer and an avid bridge player (ACBL Ruby Life Master 2016). He loved birds, books and wildflowers. Memorials may be made to Fidelia Eckert Living Center, Highlands, NC and Grace Episcopal Church, Anderson, SC.
A Memorial Service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church on Monday, June 13th at 11 AM.
