Nell Candis Wilkes, 81, of Franklin, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011.

Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late William C. Dowell and Nancy Anderson Dowell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Junior Moses, Sr., second husband, Henry Herman Wilkes; son, Ralph Moses; sisters, Kate Downs, Josie Davis, Beulah Shepherd and Pearl; brother, Walter Dowell and grandson, Billy Moses, III. Nell was a member of Tellico Baptist Church. She loved animals and enjoyed reading, gardening and working honeybees.

She is survived by three daughters, Judy Jones of Franklin, Sara Nell Leach and husband Tony of Franklin and Faye Huffstettler of Franklin; three sons, Junior Moses and wife Linda of Kings Mountain, NC, Robert “Robbie” Moses and wife Teresa of Grover, NC and Lawrence Moses of Bryson City; brother, Clayton Dowell of Brevard, NC; grandchildren, Nancy Maddox and husband Nathan, Gregg Jones and wife Lisa, Johnny Leach, Eric Jackson, Donna Collins and Dennis Martin; great grandchildren, Savanna Maddox, Sarah Maddox, Alexis Jones, Patrick Milligan, Tiffany Collins and Casey Jackson; caregiver, Arnold Anderson and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 17, at Tellico Baptist Church. Rev. Gary McCoy, Rev. Donald Bates and Rev. Morris Tippett will officiate. Burial will be in the Tellico Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Davis, Jim Downs, Chad Welch, Caleb Davis, Jerry Guffie and Lonnie Shepherd.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy Ammons, Richard Davis and Arnold Anderson.
