Obituary for MSGT. William "Bill" Eugene Walker

MSGT. William "Bill" Eugene Walker
MSGT. William “Bill” Eugene Walker, 91, of Franklin, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018.
One thing that was forever true about Bill is that he loved the Lord. As a preacher, he taught his church how to lead a life that was acceptable and honoring of the Lord. As a man away from the pulpit, he did the same by living the way he spoke and taught on Sundays.
His other love was his wife, Mary. It was a love that continued long after her passing in 2011. He became a step father to her children, Betty Jo, Richard and Ron and a step grandfather to their children. He took on this role without trepidation and became yet another example for others to follow. When his grandchildren were younger, he loved to sit along the Withlacoochee River in Florida where he and Mary lived at the time and cut up hot dogs and use them for bait and fish all day. The lesson of patience and life he taught them allowed them to become the wonderful men and women they are today.
After moving to the Franklin area in 2004, he soon continued those lessons in life with the new people he met and friendships forged. From the church goers and people in his neighborhood all the way to the staff at his favorite restaurant, Shoney’s.
Bill will be missed by many, but the stories he told and lessons he taught throughout his many years will love on through those he crossed paths with and touched along the way.
The Lord got back one of the good ones the other day!
Bill served as a pastor for 10 years at Clewiston Gospel Ministries in Clewiston, FL. He retired from the US Air Force as Master Sergeant and oversaw the motor pool. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hudson Walker and seven brothers and sisters.
He is survived by three children, Betty Jo Wood (Rupert) of Franklin, Richard Copher (Pamela Peterson) and Ronald Copher (Brenda Hatton) both of Indian Rocks Beach, FL; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 16th in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Morris Tippett and Rev. Gary McCoy will officiate. Burial will be in Tellico Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m., prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.
