Obituary for Joanna Mae Rogers

Joanna Mae  Rogers
Joanna Mae Rogers, 93, of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018.

Born in Cook Co, IL, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Katie Tanis VanWeelden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert R. Rogers and a sister, Katie Borgman. Joanna was a member of and served on the chair at Snowhill UMC for 30 years where she also taught Sunday school. She was a past president of the PTA, Lion’s Club officer, President of the Rose Creek Extension Homemakers Club and volunteered at Angel Medical Center. Most recently, Joanna attended Franklin First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by four children, Robert C. Rogers of New York City, NY, Jeffrey D. Rogers and wife Kim of Tampa, FL, Joyce Ann Rogers of Franklin and Judith K. Colvin and husband Jim of Tampa, FL; sister-in law, Bette Beaman of Pineville, NC; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren and three nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 15th in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. David Beam will officiate. Burial will be in the Snowhill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m., prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Nick Colvin, Thomas Colvin, Benjamin Espiritu, Jack Davis, Roy Heinz, Steve Rickman and Geoffrey Gregory. Great grandsons will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Memorial donations can be made to Snowhill UMC Cemetery.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
