Obituary for William Albert Jackle

William Albert Jackle, 91, of Franklin, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018.

Born in Glen Ridge, NJ, he was the son of the late Albert Michael Jackle and Mary Messer Jackle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Fey Jackle; son, Peter Albert Jackle and two sisters, Alberta Phillips and Marjorie “Midge” Ewer. William graduated from Seton Hall Preparatory School in South Orange, NJ in 1944; graduated U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in 1947 with a commission as Ensign in US Naval Reserve and served years as third mate for U.S.S. Lines, serving the far East and Australia. He returned to college and did undergraduate work in chemistry at Penn State University and Drexel University. William holds several patents in polyurethane chemistry in the US and foreign countries. He retired from Thiokol Chemical Company as a research scientist also worked several years as a private consultant in chemistry. After retirement he devoted his time to Habitat for Humanity, Hospice and Meals on Wheels.

He is survived by three children, Michael George Jackle of Ft. Worth, TX, Jackie Potts (Richard) of Franklin and Ann Orlomoski (John) of Canterbury, CT; granddaughter, Brandi Fey Jones and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12-3 p.m. Saturday, March 17th at Vito's Pizza, 607 Highlands Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
