Obituary for Harry Philip Rowland

Harry Philip Rowland, 83 of Franklin, NC went to be with his Heavenly Father surrounded by family at his home on Thursday, January 11, 2018. He was a lifelong resident of Franklin, the son of the late Harry P. and Nannie S. Parrish Rowland. Harry was preceded in death by his brothers John William and James Pinkerton Rowland, and sisters Melba Kate Hardwick, Mary Almona Slaughter, Pauline Holland, and Jacklyn Sue Sergenti and grandson Robert Philip Rowland
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vera Nadine Stevens Rowland. To their union were born four children who survive, sons Stephen Philip Rowland (Sharon) of Raleigh, NC, William Martin Rowland (Janet), of Franklin, and Robert Keith Rowland (Sonya) of Leicester, NC and daughter Rhonda Lee Swearingen (Dean Grewe) of Nashville, TN. He had seven grandchildren who were the loves of his life including Erica Sanders, of Memphis, TN, Brooke Sanders of OK, Seth Rowland (Lindsey), of Franklin, Andrew Rowland and fiancée Katlyn Selbee, of Greenville, NC, LClp. Benjamin Rowland, of CA, Sophia Rowland of Carrboro, and Riley Rowland, of Cullowhee. He had three great-grandchildren, Cayden, Ava, and Blake Sanders.
Also surviving him are his brother Daniel Boone Rowland (Lorraine) of Macon, GA, sisters Shirley Palmer of Franklin and Nancy Jane Shropshire of MS.
Harry attended Macon County Schools and was a member of Franklin Church of Christ.
He loved people and was a servant to many, as he delivered gas and repaired stoves across western North Carolina from 1963 to 2010.
Visitation to be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday January 13, 2018 at Macon Funeral Home. A celebration of Harry’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Franklin Church of Christ on McCollum Drive, Franklin, NC. He will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the Franklin Church of Christ.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wilde and his staff, Mission Hospital Surgical Staff and Neurology Unit, Rathbun House, and Care Partners Hospice for their care during his illness.
