Nancy Kirkland Russell, 91, of Franklin, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018.

Born in Bryson City, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lucinda Jenkins Kirkland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilmer Russell; a son, Don Russell; brothers, Floyd and LeRoy Kirkland and sisters, Rosa Lee Russell and Cordelia Russell. Nancy enjoyed gardening, canning and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Watauga Baptist Church.

She is survived by three children, Betty McMillan and husband Carl, Patricia Clem and husband Gary and Daniel Russell and girlfriend, Rae Tyler all of Franklin; eight brothers and sisters, Ethel Walker, Louise Hurst, Annie Lois Shepherd, Annie Belle Smith, Willie Hovis and Dorothy Reddish all of Franklin and Wiley Kirkland of Flint, MI; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 4th in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Lee Russell will officiate. Burial will be in Watauga Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.

Nephews will serve as Pallbearers.
