Obituary for James Lyle Moss

James Lyle  Moss
James L. Moss, 93, of Jodytown, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017.

Born in Jackson Co, he was the son of the late Lyman Moss and Ruie Evitt Moss. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Bessie Mae Coggins Moss; one sister, Ruby; two brothers, John and Gus; half-sister, Geneva Gladwell Wilson and two grandsons, Jason McCall and Austin Smith. James was a WWII US Army veteran. He was a lifelong Jackson County resident and farmer and was awarded the Farm Family of the Year award in 1972. James was former Director at Wachovia Bank of Cashiers and member of the Jackson County School Board. He attended Cashiers Church of God.

He is survived by four sons, Larry Moss and wife Brenda of Jodytown, Robert Moss and wife Marilyn of Franklin, Steve Moss and wife Karen of Jodytown and Wayne Moss and wife Brenda of Jodytown; three daughters, Opal White and husband Tommy of Knoxville, TN, Leota Smith of Seneca, SC and Stella McCall of Cashiers; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 11th at Cashiers Baptist Church. Rev. Nathan Moss, Rev. Todd Moss and Rev. Michael McCall will officiate with military rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108. Burial will be in Evitt Cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the service at Cashiers Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Tom Marsedan, Terry Bryson, R.L. Norton, Chris Moss, Grey Smith, Tony McCall and Scott Petit.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina, PO Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361 or Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 950 Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4277.
