Obituary for Rev. Thomas Chancellor Lyons

Rev. Thomas Chancellor  Lyons
Rev. Thomas Chancellor Lyons, 73, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017.

Born in McQuady, KY, he was raised in Balltown and Cloverport, KY, he was the son of the late William Stanley Lyons and Floy Chancellor Lyons DeJarnette of Cloverport, KY. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Stanley Lyons of Stow, OH. He was a US Air Force Vietnam veteran and was a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist working in many hospitals until 1993. Tom’s passion was ministry, becoming an ordained minister in 1983. He served as Pastor of Adonai Temple, Asheville, NC for 15 years and helped lead 19 tours to the Holy Land; he was also involved in organizing churches in England and Guyana South America.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Elaine Rogers Lyons; four children, Lisa Bennett (Tommy), Mark Lyons, Michael Lyons and Nathan Lyons all of Franklin; sister, Nancy Ladner of Kiln, MS; three grandchildren, Allen Bennett, Ailei Bennett and Kaiden Bennett and many extended family, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at Louisa Chapel United Methodist Church. Mark Pearson, Rev. Gary Davis and Rev. Jay Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by the VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
