Michael  Henry   Cummings I
Michael Henry Cummings I, 74, of Franklin, NC passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017.

Born in Hickman, KY, he was the son of the late James Henry Cummings and Mildred Choate Cummings. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Cummings. Michael was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the US Army. He worked as a pharmacist at several local-area pharmacies, ending his career at Cherokee Hospital. He was very active in the community, serving on several boards, including Reach, Hospice and AIDS support. He was an avid bird enthusiast, an ordained deacon and member of St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his wife Marcia Morgan; one son, Michael Cummings II of Clayton, GA; two sisters, Carole Wright and husband Phillip of Baton Rouge, LA and Kay Rogers and husband Nello of Plant City, FL; sister-in law, Glenda Cummings of Johnson City, TN; three grandchildren, Sara Claire, Isabelle Hope and Michael Cummings III; a very special niece whom he considered a daughter, Lura Johnson and husband Allen and their daughter Morgan and many other nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 30th in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. McKinley Pate will officiate with military rites conducted by VVA Chapter 994, VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.

The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harris Life Path Hospice, 68 Hospital Drive, Sylva, NC 2877or a charity of your choice.
