Condolences

Condolence From: Elena Carlson
Condolence: Dear Mary Jo's family, I feel priviledge having met and got to know Mary Jo and Erwin in these beautiful mountains. She was a sincere loving person. I enjoyed her company wherever we encountered each other, Snow Hill Church, the Rickman Store, CCDO meetings, etc. She shared with me many of her experiences of living in this extraordinary corner of the world and I will always be thankful for that. On behalf of my family and of the Friends of the Rickman Store who appreciate her support all these past years, i want to express my condolences for your lost. May your hearts renew with the sounds and colors of spring.

Condolence From: Harvey Fouts
Condolence: Mary Jo was a fantastic person. She always had a bright smile and a positive outlook. My earliest memories are of her son "Butch" as I knew him, and Caron as a little girl. We were just kids playing around the "Rickman homeplace", usually around the Rickman Reunion. Mary Jo and Erwin were visiting from "Michigan"; always a treat to see them at Uncle Joe and Aunt Candice's. Later, when they moved to Cowee, it was always good to visit at their home. Always will remember her & Erwin as active in community and church. Loved their family and friends. She will be missed. Glad they are now together forever.

Always, Harvey (& Jan) Fouts

Condolence From: Janet Rickman Somey
Condolence: I wish I could be there Saturday, but Nevada has one disadvantage in that it is so far away from NC. Both Aunt Mary Jo and Uncle Erwin were wonderful people; and very, very special to me. I will always remember Aunt Mary Jo's laugh...and she loved to laugh! Even though we never lived close by, she had a way of making me feel like she was right there for me all the time. And we always had fun. Except for picking blackberries for jelly on July 4...that was a little prickly! I know you will miss her. My love to everyone, Janet

Condolence: Mary Jo was a wonderful woman. She was always warm, friendly, and cordial to those of us fortunate enough to be participating in the WFSC/WRFR live remote broadcasts from the Macon County Fair for many years. It was a pleasure knowing her. My sincere condolences to her family and friends. Mary Jo was a real treasure and I know she will be deeply missed.
