Obituary for Dennis Joe Bowers
Dennis Joe Bowers, 70, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016.
Born in Macon Co, he was the son of the late Joe Warren Bowers and Edna Bolick Bowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James O. Bowers. Dennis formerly was maintenance supervisor of the Cullasaja Club. He was a member of the Junaluskee 145 Masonic Lodge as well as a Shriner. He was a founding member of Cullasaja Gorge Fire Department, a founding member of the Macon County Coon Club and member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Frankie Hyatt Bowers; three children, Tammy Holland and husband Brian, Amy Ashe and husband Tony both of Franklin and Calab Bowers and wife Emily of Highlands; one brother, Wayne Bowers of Brevard, NC; one sister, Carolyn West of Franklin; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21st at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Greg Rogers, Rev. Gene Hawkins, Rev. Bobby Cloer and Mike Norris will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Bowers, Steve Bowers, Jerry West, Ronnie McConnell, Tom Coffey, Mike Dills, Ellard Bolick, Bobby Bolick, James Bowers and
Charles E. Bowers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to one’s favorite charity or Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
