Obituary for Doris Lakey Raby
Doris Lakey Raby, 87, of Franklin, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016.
Born in Swain Co, she was the daughter of the late John Wiley Lakey and Juanita Welch Lakey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Billy “Bill” Bryson Raby; two sons, Randy and Terry Raby and three sisters, Ruth Robbins, Lorene King and Katherine Nordling. Doris was a nurse, manager of Coin Laundry and worked in food service at Cowee Elementary School. She was a member of Cowee Baptist Church.
She is survived by one brother, Joe Lakey and wife Fran of Bryson City; one sister, Pearlene Allen and husband Kermit of Bryson City; one daughter-in law, Karen Deal Raby of Franklin; two step grandchildren, Casey Jennings and wife Stephanie and Kyle Jennings and wife Maggie all of Franklin; one step-great grandson, Jeremiah Jennings and one step great-granddaughter, Lillian Jennings and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17th at Cowee Baptist Church. Rev. Lloyd Fish will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m., prior to the service at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to Cowee Baptist Church, 6301 Bryson City Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
