Obituary for James Elbert Winstead

James Elbert Winstead, 74, of Franklin, passed away Monday, November 14, 2016.

Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Claude Winstead and Inez Irene Cunningham Winstead. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Wollf Winstead; one son, Scott Winstead; sister, Dorothy Winstead and a brother Leroy Cunningham. James retired from the US Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. He worked many years at Western Carolina University in food service.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Linda Welch Winstead; one daughter, Shannon Orth of Sylva; one sister, Gail Anderson of Sylva; one brother, Jessie Winstead of Cherokee; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

No Services are planned.
