Obituary for Dr. Paul Killian
Dr. Paul Killian, 81, of New York, NY, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016.
Born in Franklin, NC, he was the son of the late Dr. Frank McClure Killian and Sallie Mae Taylor Killian. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. John H. Killian and Frank McClure Killian, Jr. Dr. Killian was a graduate of Franklin High School and served as Senior Class President. He attended Wake Forest University and Bowman Gray Medical School in Winston Salem, NC. After moving to New York City, he served as Chief Resident of the First Medical Division of Bellevue Hospital and on the faculty of the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
He was Chief of the Endocrinology Division on the Columbia University service at Harlem Hospital, where his medical students named him Teacher of the Year on multiple occasions.
He is survived by his daughter, Christiana Irené Killian of New York, NY; and his son, Justin Paul Killian of New York, NY; a sister, Mary Ann Mignon; four nephews, Paul Mignon, Taylor Mignon, John Hume Killian and Frank Killian and several great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 22nd, at St. John's Church, Cartoogechaye. Rev. Carl Southerland will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wake Forest School of Medicine, John Hume Killian, M.D. Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 571021, Winston-Salem, NC, 27157-1021.
