Dale Caldwell  Parrott
Dale Caldwell Parrott, age 67, of Franklin, NC, died in Buncombe County, NC, Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Dale was born in Arlington, VA in 1949. He was a 1967 graduate of J.E.B. Stuart High School, VA and received his BS in 1972 in Industrial Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, VA. His professional career lasted nearly 40 years as an engineer within the nuclear and power industry. Dale’s talents were varied and many. He was an avid outdoors enthusiast, enjoying running, hiking, mountain and road biking, caving, mountain climbing, and camping. He was an accomplished theater organist and member of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society. When he and his wife Susan retired to Franklin, he brought a lifetime of experiences to building a beautiful retirement home in the mountains and was always outside working on landscaping projects and improvements. Preceded in death by his mother Helen Caldwell Parrott, he is survived by his father, Harold Sylvester Parrott of Springfield, VA; his wife of 30 years, Susan B. Parrott; children, Jason Dale Parrott of Portland, OR; Suzanne Leigh Myrick and husband Jacob Myrick of Winston-Salem, NC; Quay William III and wife Amy Parrott of Waynesboro, VA; Elizabeth Halsey Parrott of Nashville, TN; and John Curtis Parrott of Staunton, VA; and grandchildren, Quay William IV, Robert Sampson, John Mechler and Marguerite Kessel Parrott of Waynesboro, VA; Collin Michael Parrott of Concord, NC; Eleanor and Benjamin Myrick of Winston-Salem, NC. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, August 13, 2016 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 84 Church St. Franklin, NC, with the Rev. Fred Lindstrom officiating. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to All Saints Episcopal Church, (allsaintsfranklin.org), the Atlanta Chapter of the American Theater Organ Society (atosatlanta.org) or the Southern Off-road Bicycle Association Central Savannah River Area (SORBAcsra.org).
