Obituary for Henry "Edward" Cagle

Henry "Edward" Cagle
Henry “Edward” (Slick) Cagle, 72, of Franklin, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 14, 2016.

A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Harry and Mae Shuler Cagle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Cagle and mother-in-law, Eula Cruse. Edward enjoyed traveling, was an avid western movie fan, and was a #1 Carolina Panthers fan. He ran the Franklin Motel for over 25 years and then went to work for the Macon County School System as a bus driver (he was fondly called “Mr. Ed” by the students). He also worked part-time at the ABC Store. Edward loved his family, especially the light of his life; his granddaughter, Kinley.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Pat Cruse Cagle; daughters, Lacey Cagle and fiancé, Shannon Austin; Samantha Brooke Cagle; Crystal Carver; and granddaughters, Kinley Austin and Bree Carver; brother, Larry Bo Cagle; sisters, Edna Sams; Jo Johnson all of Sylva and Ida Broome of Waynesville; brother-in-law, Richard Lynn Cruse of Franklin; special nieces, Connie Green and husband Mark; Jill Cagle all of Sylva; special family friend Nell Sutton and sister-in-law, Wanda Cagle and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at Macon Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Macon Funeral Home, PO Box 1175, Franklin, NC 28744 to help with funeral expenses.
