Obituary for Philip Raymond Byrd

Philip Raymond  Byrd
Philip Raymond Byrd, 87, of Franklin, NC, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016.

Born in Smithfield, TN, he was the son of the late Raymond and Clara VanHooser Byrd. Philip served with the 82nd Air Borne Parachute Infantry in the US Army. He was former owner several Franklin Businesses, including Macon Transit Mix, member and officer of the Lion’s Club and charter member of Grace Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca Byrd; three children, Sherry Cook and husband Danny of Franklin, Stacy Byrd and Tim Tallent of Atlanta, GA, Debbi Lindsey and husband Jimmy of Asheville; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, 14th at Grace Presbyterian Church. Rev. Richard Holmes and Rev. Robert Enloe will officiate. Burial will be in Union United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Nelse Bates, Bill Dyer, Kevin Bulgin, Tim Tallent, Tanner Cook and Danny Cook.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Kirkland, Lloyd Stamey, Dick Byland Charlie Pinkston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grace Presbyterian Church Building Fund, PO Box 1033, Franklin, NC 28744.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
