Obituary for Kenneth Larry Davis

Kenneth Larry  Davis
Kenneth Larry Davis, 77, of Franklin, NC, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016.
Born in Waynesville, NC, he was the son of the late Jack Davis and Jeanette Miller Davis. Larry was raised in Candler, NC and graduated from Enka High School where he was a member of the football and basketball teams. Larry received a scholarship to play football at Western Carolina University. He transferred and graduated from NC State, where he also played football, with a bachelor’s degree in forestry. Later, he volunteered as a little league basketball coach. He worked for the US Forest Service and was transferred to Franklin to be the District Assistant Forest Ranger. He was a successful real estate broker and member of the North Carolina Board of Realtors. Larry was an active member of the Republican Party, serving on the National Committee. He was a former Jaycee. He was an avid sportsman; he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the National Rifle Association and the NC Wild Turkey Association. He was also a member of Longview Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Edna “Eddie” Davis; daughter, Darlene Davis of Aiken, SC; step-children, Deborah Allen of Gainesville, GA, Mark Allen of Slap-Out, AL and Rhonda Carter of Gainesville, GA; one brother, Rex Davis and wife Peggy of Asheville, NC; one sister, Wanda Peek and husband Neal of Asheville, NC; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 22nd, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Nahlen, Rev. Steve Reeves and Rev. Ronnie Owens will officiate. Burial will be in the Longview Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bill McConnell, Larry Gibson, Ricky Scott, Kevin Corbin, Kelly Corbin and Steve Penland.
Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
