Obituary for Edwina Faye Hauversburk (Whittle)

Edwina Faye Hauversburk, 85, of Franklin, NC, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

Born in Doerun, GA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Cecil Whittle and Verda Mae Carter Whittle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hauversburk and two brothers, Winston Cecil Whittle and Quentin Owen Whittle. Edwina was a Registered Nurse and enjoyed furthering her education as she got older; she graduated summa cum laude from every school she attended. She spent much of her life in and around Tallahassee, and Havana, FL, before retiring with Frank to Macon County, NC in 1993. Here they became active in the community and she wrote a book about her brother, Quentin Whittle, “Life and Times of a Lawman”. Edwina enjoyed participating in the Senior Games, socializing and card playing with friends, and was a member of Union United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Daniel Frank Hauversburk (Lelia) of Tallahassee, FL, Jerry Allen Hauversburk of Havana, FL and Michael Jay Hauversburk (Tracy) of Panama City, FL; one sister, Myra Mae Phillips of Havana, FL; six grandchildren, Brenna Marie Hauversburk, Daniel Frank Hauversburk Jr, Rhett Tucker Hauversburk, Nicholas Allen Hauversburk, Jacob Michael Hauversburk and Jared Owen Hauversburk ; one great grandchild, Blake West, surviving sisters-in-law, Theis Whittle of Perry FL, Debra (Augie) Silingas, Diane (Carl) Porter, Mary Lou Layton, Natalee Doyle all of Alton IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am Saturday, May 7th at Macon Funeral Home.
