Obituary for Clyde James Blue

Clyde James  Blue
Clyde James Blue, 89, of Franklin, NC passed away Sept. 20, 2015 at Franklin House.

Born in Flint, Michigan, the youngest son of Vernon C. and Elisa C. Kintner Blue. Predeceasing him in death in addition to his parents are siblings Maysel Hazazer, Franklin, Richard M., Ventura, California, Frank E., Holland, Michigan, son Kerry V (6/22/15)., Franklin, and grandson Michael James Blue, Bradenton, Florida. He participated in many civic and recreational activities and organizations: Boy Scout Leader, Youth Bowling Club, a member of the Cable and Satellite TV Authority of Manatee County, Florida, president of Local 1584 AFSME Union. He was an avid big game hunter and a member of three bowling leagues for many years. Mr. Blue was especially proud of his naval service as RM1/C stationed aboard a LSM(R) 197 ship and saw action in the landing of Okinawa in the South Pacific on April 1, 1945. The responsibility of the 197 was to destroy installations prior to landing soldiers and Marines. Mr. Blue marched in every Veteran’s Day Parade since moving to Franklin in 2000. He was extremely proud to be chosen to participate in the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. and was a member of the American Legion in Bradenton, Florida, as well as Franklin. He graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1943, was employed for 25 years as School Board of Manatee County supervisor of electronics, television, and audio/visuals. He received specialized training at RCA Camp in Camden, New Jersey, attended Farragut College and Technical Institute in Farragut, Idaho, and graduated radio, electronic and television school, Detroit, Michigan. During the summer months he was employed by Franks T.V. Services in Franklin. He and his family were part time residents of Franklin for 50 years before becoming full time residents in 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Helen of 68 years, sons James C. and Joel E., granddaughters Rebecca Blue (Stephen) Angel, Jacqueline Blue grandson, Jacob Blue, great-granddaughters Mya, Abigail and Emmalynn; daughter in law, Lisa Blue and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 25. Private interment will be Saturday, Sept. 26, at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Memorial remembrances may be made to St. Francis Church, 299 Maple Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
