Katherine Louise Waldroop Roper, 79, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015.

Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Burnell F. Waldroop and Kate Wallace Waldroop. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Waldroop, Fred Waldroop and Gene Waldroop and a sister, Esther Baty. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist. She loved to garden; was an avid walker; volunteered at Union Academy; was a loving mother, dedicated grandmother and great grandmother. Katherine has always been the caregiver and comforter for her family.

She is survived by her husband of 58 inseparable years, Earl Roper; two sons, Garry Roper (Georgia) of Franklin and Kent Roper (Cathy) of Simpsonville, SC; daughter, Michelle “Shelley” Marshall (Wallace) of Franklin; six grandchildren, Nick Roper, Chelsea Huscusson (Andrew), Zachary Marshall and Hayden Marshall all of Franklin and Lauren Kate Roper and Christopher Roper both of Simpsonville; two great grandchildren, Natalee Huscusson and Haylee Huscusson; sister-in-law, Barbara Waldroop of Franklin and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, September 24, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Private family graveside service will follow.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Thursday, at Macon Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Union Academy.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
