Guy Thomas  McKenzie
Guy Thomas McKenzie of Sky Valley, GA peacefully passed away January 6, 2015 at his home after enduring a three year battle with pancreatic cancer. Born February 4, 1948 in Asheville, NC, Guy T. was the only child of Guy Troxell and Dulcie Lee Hill McKenzie.
Guy graduated from Lee Edwards High School and went on to the University of South Carolina where he graduated with a Business Marketing major in 1970. Following graduation, he worked at Wachovia Bank in Thomasville, NC. He then managed Baskin Robbins in the Asheville Mall, and later spent 15 years in regional paint sales with Sherman Williams. Guy then began a two decade career in real estate ventures, beginning with Mountain Air Country Club. Guy was married to Lauren Morley McKenzie who preceded him in death in 2006 after her three year battle with breast cancer. Guy is survived by his son, Scott McKenzie and his wife Christina, life-long friend Laura Dillard of Raleigh, and his beloved Boxer Sassy. Other family includes Bill McKenzie, his wife Tootie and daughter Heather, Delores Ann and Frank Gaylord, Ray and Jean Hill, and Miles Biggerstaff. Guy is also survived by many wonderful and supportive friends. Guy’s soul, spirit, and neighborly love will live on with all who knew and loved him.
Friends and family will be celebrating his life at a service to be held 11am Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Chapel of Sky Valley where he attended and served on the Chapel Executive Committee. The service will be officiated by Bishop John and Reverend Susan Erbelding.
Memorials in honor of Guy Thomas McKenzie should be in the form of contributions to your local area Hospice or the Sid Weber Memorial Cancer Fund.
