Eleanor Gross Regan,85, peacefully passed into the presence of her Lord
Thursday, November 6, 2014. She was born March 9, 1929 in Napoleon, ND to the late Margaret Burgad and Clemenz Gross. She was also preceded in death by her beloved stepfather, George P. Jochim.
Eleanor married the late Thomas Franklin Regan June 30, 1949 and is survived by children: Richard Regan of Las Vegas, NV, Lucinda R. Wolfe (James) of Virginia Beach, VA, Suzanne R. Hawkinson (Robin) of Stevensville, MT, Gary Regan (Noelle) of Bullhead City, AZ, Jane R. Long (Loren) of Franklin, NC; and grandchildren Heather J. Hawkinson of Charleston, SC, Cody Hawkinson (Nicole) of Mountain Home, ID, and Levi Hawkinson (Charlene) of Los Angeles, Regan and Graham Long of Franklin, NC; three great-grandchildren - Layney and McKinley Hawkinson, Milan Hawkinson, and two step great-grandchildren Jackson and Madison Spencer.
She is also survived by four sisters, Margaret Jochim Juley of Boulder City, NV; Adeline Jochim Konnoff of Castro Valley,CA; Jeanette Jochim Stevens (Brad) of Rapid City, SD; and Jean Jochim Thomas (Richard) of Rapid City,SD; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Eleanor lived in Montana, Arizona, Oregon, and Franklin, NC, where she enjoyed gardening on Wilkie Street. She was known as “Grandma Oregon” by her older grandchildren. An avid reader, she always enjoyed learning new things and graduated from Shiloh Christian Institute in 1991, in MT. Eleanor participated in various ministries and had a heart for helping others.
The family would like to thank the Macon Valley Nursing staff who gave her devoted, loving care in her later years. There will be no service or visitation. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Franklin, NC, handled by Macon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a ministry Eleanor thoroughly enjoyed: Dynamic Women of the Word, 257 Rose Creek Trail, Franklin, NC 28734.
