Richard Hopkins, 66, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014.

Born in Macon County, he was the son Margie Collins Hopkins and the late Howard R. Hopkins, Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Ray and Harold and sisters, Mary Alice and Betty Sue. Richard was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church; was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He worked in sales at Macon Furniture Mart.

In addition to his mother, Margie Collins Hopkins, he is survived by his wife, Bessie Ramey Hopkins; two sons, James Richard Hopkins and wife Teresa and Raymond Keith Hopkins and wife Kim all of Franklin; three brothers, Gary, Randy and Billy all of Franklin; four sisters, Edith Sullivan and Elaine Hopkins both of Asheville and Patsy Holbrooks and Barbara Weaver both of Franklin; two grandchildren, James Adam Hopkins and Gary Ray Gregory; three great grandchildren, Natalie Leah Hopkins, Coraline Helen Gregory and Logan Ray Gregory and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Howard Southard, Rev. Bobby Cloer and Rev. Vic Greene will officiate. Burial will be in the Windy Gap Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 7, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Paul Ramey, Patrick Ramey, David Ramey, Gary Gregory, Adam Hopkins and Jason Cloer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brian Cals, David Nichols, Tony Nichols, Scarlett Ramey and Heather Cloer.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
