Betty Jean McClure, 83, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014.

Born in Macon Co, she was the daughter of the late Sam Houston and Rachael Moss Houston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James J. McClure; son, Stanley McClure; brothers, Ray, Sammy and Vernon Houston and sister, Ella Mae McClure. Betty was a member of Goldmine Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Passmore and Teresa McClure both of Goldmine, NC; step-son, Jimmy McClure of Highlands; brothers, Clinton Houston of Highlands, Steve Houston of Cullowhee; sisters, Bernice Evitt of Asheville, Faye Sanders of Hobe Sound, FL, Laverne Houston of Pickens, SC and Wanda Hooper of Hendersonville, NC; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 5th in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Alton Dendy will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Michael McClure, Greg Ammons, Thad Evitt, Michael Dendy, Gary McClure and Jason Passmore. Frank Hooper, Jimmy McClure and Wayne McCall will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
