William Gorden Underwood, 75, of Cullowhee, NC, passed away Friday, November 4, 2011.

Born in Blairsville, GA, he was the son of the late William Wayne Underwood and Mary Jane Bryson Underwood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Lawson and Fred. Gorden was a member of Bible Baptist Church. He was a carpenter and enjoyed deer hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice Mashburn Underwood; daughter, Arquillia Henderson and husband, Ralph of Yellow Mountain; two sisters, Genevieve McCall and husband Randall and Mellie Stanley and husband John both of Pine Creek Community; brother, James Orden Underwood of Pine Creek Community; two grandchildren, Crystal Rice and husband Kenny and Carrie Bowen and husband Chris; four great grandchildren, Devin Bryson, Derick Bryson, Mason Bowen and Gage Bowen and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, November 6, at Macon Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 7, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Alton Dendy will officiate. Burial will be in the Ellijay Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Curley Potts, Kelby Mashburn, Lloyd Mashburn, Dellyn Vaughn and Nicky McCall.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
